Why pay lots of money to order a plate customized with your family name for the holidays? You can create one of your very own with supplies bought from the dollar store or Walmart! Today I will be telling you guys exactly how to create this incredibly easy and beautiful homemade craft.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- white glass plate
- paper towels
Start by putting a little acetone on your paper towel and clean the entire plate with it. After it dries you are ready to draw. Some people use stencils or use a pencil to sketch at first, I just free-handed mine. Especially if free handing like I did, you can use acetone on Q-tips to clean up and edges or erase and redraw. After you’ve finished your design there is one last step.
Put your oven up to 350 degrees and immediately place your plate in the oven before it preheats so you don’t change the temperature too quickly and possibly break the plate. After it reaches temperature leave the plate in the oven for an hour and then turn the oven off. Leave the plate in the oven as it cools, once again so you don’t change temperature too quickly. After it has completely cooled you can remove your plate and it is ready for use. These plates are washable, adorable, easy, and cheap. Create a plate of your own and leave a comment below letting me know how it went! Stop by later this week for more crafts made by hand and with heart.
